Rezerection was a dance music event promoter from Northumberland, England started by Paul Ludford in 1989. Originally they held club events in the North of England before hosting many large all-night raves in Scotland during 1991, mostly in Edinburgh.
Raves would be mostly a mixture of foreign and local Scottish talent culminating in several 15,000 plus attendance events called 'The Event' with o
ne hosting 47 artists lasting over 20 hours, including DJ's Lenny Dee, Joey Beltram, Technotrance, DJ Ten, Marc Smith, Scott Brown and PA's Bass X, Q-Tex, QFX, Egebamyasi and Dye Witness.
It took a long time in coming, but eventually on 14th August 1993 Rezerection got there - the biggest dance party ever staged in Scotland (until Fantazia - Big Bang), promoted by the Rezerection crew.
Rezerection was attended by 12,000 people, but due to very strict regulating by the environmental health department, the event was marred by a low sound level. This was the event at which the Prodigy walked off stage because the sound levels made their set sound absolutely ridiculous. Staged at the Royal Highland Showground in Edinburgh, which is situated right next to Edinburgh airport, you would think that Rezerection would have had no trouble with sound levels. But the airport was not 24 hour and normally closed by eleven o'clock except for emergencies. The main problem they had was with an elderly gentlemen who lived nearby, who complained to the local authority. Rezerection offered to send him away on expensive holidays whenever they staged their events, to buy his house, to move him, and countless other incentives. But with a knick knack paddy whack give a dog a bone, this old man stayed right at home.
Rezerection launched a double album 'The Awakening '95' via Evolution Records before moving outright into the record label market through the power of their already established event branding and merchandising (even had British TV personality Donna Air model their clothing range). Had self titled dedicated tracks to the organization with Bass Generator 'The Event' and Scott Brown 'Do What Ya Like (The Rezerection Anthem)'.
